I live in Boulder, CO. A city with just under 100,000 people. And sometimes it feels like an itty bitty town of only a few thousand. The frequency with which I see people I know...well, it is nearly every time I'm out of my home.
This morning as I was driving in to work I was having a singing-in-the-car-LOUDLY kind of morning. Just because I like to. Singing in the car is one of my special "taking care of me" treats. I crank up the radio beyond loud and really let go (of being reserved with singing, not the steering wheel).
So this morning as I was approaching a stoplight, I was belting out "Creep" along with Radiohead when I noticed the driver in the car right next to me that was also stopped at the red light was someone I know who graduated a few years ago, and he was waving at me and lowering his window. I turned off the radio, lowered my window, and had a 30second conversation with someone who just might have heard me belting out "But I'm a creep/I'm a weirdo/What the hell am I doing here?". Because, let's face it, even with the windows up, it is possible at that volume that someone right next to me could hear. Sigh. At least it wasn't NIN's "Closer" which I was singing right before.
I'm off to get a massage...I've been having a weird shoulder thing the last few days. I just hope I don't fall asleep this time! :)
